Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

Synopsis

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 256.22 points at 82445.21

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(up 9.27%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(up 9.18%), India Power Corporation Ltd.(up 7.30%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(up 6.71%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(up 5.38%), Reliance Power Ltd.(up 4.84%), Energy Development Company Ltd.(up 3.85%), KEC International Ltd.(up 3.63%), NTPC Green Energy Ltd.(up 3.55%) and Kalpataru Projects International Ltd.(up 3.29%) stood among the top gainers.

Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(down 5.01%), KKV Agro Powers Ltd.(down 4.38%), Ravindra Energy Ltd.(down 1.98%), ACME Solar Holdings Ltd.(down 1.10%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(down 1.08%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(down 0.71%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd.(down 0.56%), SJVN Ltd.(down 0.35%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(down 0.35%) and Torrent Power Ltd.(down 0.06%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 100.16 points up at 25103.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 256.22 points at 82445.21.

Jio Financial Services Ltd.(up 3.49%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 3.13%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 2.52%), Trent Ltd.(up 2.37%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 2.12%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.91%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 1.9%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.68%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.59%) and Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 1.42%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Eternal Ltd.(down 1.92%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.71%), Titan Company Ltd.(down 0.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.62%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 0.32%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 0.28%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 0.16%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.14%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 0.11%) and Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.08%) closed in the red.
