Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Friday's session.

DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(up 1.70%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(up 1.19%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(up 1.00%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(up 0.76%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(up 0.75%), Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 0.64%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(up 0.54%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 0.32%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 0.30%) and KM Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 0.27%) stood among the top gainers.

Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(down 2.70%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 1.43%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 1.08%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd.(down 0.97%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 0.74%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(down 0.60%), EID Parry(India)Ltd.(down 0.51%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(down 0.51%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 0.40%) and Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 0.23%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 252.15 points up at 25003.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 746.95 points at 82188.99.

Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 5.65%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 4.9%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 3.74%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 3.08%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 2.78%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 2.45%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 2.37%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.35%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.14%) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.14%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 0.86%), Bharat Electronics Ltd.(down 0.72%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 0.46%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 0.31%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.24%) closed in the red.
