Trevor Bauer wins default judgment over breach of settlement terms
Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer secured a legal victory this week when a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered Lindsey Hill to pay $309,832.02 for violating terms of a previously agreed-upon legal settlement. The ruling came after Hill failed to respond to a lawsuit filed by Bauer in October 2023.The case stems from 2021 allegations made by Hill against Bauer, which led to an MLB investigation and Bauer’s subsequent suspension. Although both parties filed legal actions, Bauer for defamation and Hill for assault and battery, they reached a confidential settlement in which neither admitted fault or exchanged payment.

However, Bauer later sued Hill, alleging she made 21 public comments via social media and podcast appearances that contradicted the confidentiality provision. That clause specifically prohibited either party from claiming money was exchanged in the settlement. According to court documents, each of the 21 alleged violations carried a $10,000 penalty as defined by the original agreement.
Judgement includes penalties, attorney fees, and interest
In addition to the $220,000 in damages for the 22 violations (an additional violation was later added), Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel Crowley approved attorney fees, court costs, and accrued interest, bringing the total award to $309,832.02. The judge noted Bauer’s legal team had submitted sufficient documentation to justify the full amount requested.Crowley had previously told Bauer’s attorneys that their evidence was insufficient, but later acknowledged they had met the required burden. Hill did not contest the suit at any point. In an earlier email, Hill’s attorneys indicated she would be receiving $300,000 from her insurance provider.

Following the judgment, Hill returned to posting on her X (formerly Twitter) account and acknowledged her refusal to participate in the legal proceedings. She wrote that she would appeal the ruling and intended to delay any attempts by Bauer to revive his professional baseball career.
“He will never see a cent from me,” Hill posted.
Bauer has not pitched in Major League Baseball since his 2021 suspension. His current legal victory marks another chapter in a prolonged legal battle that has drawn national attention.
