The owner, who runs a well-known Chole Bhature shop, was left shaken and scared. The call came around 4 pm, and within two hours, he went to the police and filed a complaint. Delhi Police immediately began an investigation and are trying to trace where the call came from and who made it.
Kaushal Chaudhary, the gangster mentioned in the threat, was brought back from Dubai in 2019 and is currently in jail in Haryana.
Sadly, this isn’t the only case. Businessmen in Delhi have been receiving similar threats from other gangs too. Just last month, a businessman in Najafgarh got a call demanding Rs 2 crore. The caller, claiming to be UK-based gangster Kapil Sangwan (also known as Nandu), threatened to kill him and his family.
In another case in March, a businessman got a demand for Rs 5 crore from someone claiming to be from the Jaipal Bhullar group. Two weeks later, his house was attacked by gunmen.
In May, two men opened fire at a car showroom in Tilak Nagar, west Delhi, injuring four people.
Police are now increasing efforts to track down gang-related extortion threats and protect local business owners.
