The fact that the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Pakistan Army called his Indian counterpart to request a ceasefire speaks volumes, says Retired Colonel Anil Bhat on India-Pak military de-escalation

Retired Colonel Anil Bhat on India-Pak military de-escalation: “I believe the punishment Pakistan’s military received today was quite substantial—enough to hurt them. The fact that the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Pakistan Army called his Indian counterpart to request a ceasefire speaks volumes. The understanding tied to this request is that Pakistan will not support terrorist groups and will ensure they are not sent into India again."

He added, "If they repeat this behavior and provoke another escalation, the response from India will again be swift and appropriate—possibly stronger. That said, we were careful this time not to let the situation escalate to the point of full-scale war.”

Indian government's 'Operation Sindoor' is the right step and I support it. I request that the government end this operation only after reaching a logical conclusion. We should not stop under the pressure of any external forces. I have been studying terrorism for over 30 years, and I can assure you that Pakistan will not stop. If we call off the 'Operation Sindoor' now, Pakistan will again launch terror attacks within three months. Hence, it should not stop.

India Pakistan Live: Govt tells media channels not to use civil defence sirens sounds in programmes

The government on Saturday advised all media channels to refrain from using civil defence air raid sirens sounds in their programmes other than community awareness drive.

In an advisory, the Directorate General Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guards said exercising the powers conferred under the Civil Defence Act, 1968, all media channels were requested to refrain from using civil defence air raids sirens sounds in their programmes other than for educating the community.

It said that the routine use of sirens may likely to reduce the sensitivity of civilians towards the air raids sirens and civilians may misunderstood it as routine matter, used by the media channels, during the actual air raids.

The advisory came amidst the heightened tension due to the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict.
