The ceremony took place in Germany and remained undisclosed until now. Even senior leaders from both the Trinamool Congress and the BJD have claimed they were unaware of the event. The nature of the ceremony and the secrecy surrounding it have left party insiders surprised.

    Mahua Moitra

Mahua Moitra is a two-time Member of Parliament from Krishnanagar in West Bengal. She entered politics after a career in investment banking and is known for her sharp criticism of the ruling party. Her speeches in Parliament have regularly drawn attention for their directness and assertive tone.

Pinaki Misra: legal and political career

Pinaki Misra, Moitra’s reported husband, is a four-time Member of Parliament from Puri, Odisha. He began his parliamentary journey in 1996 by defeating former Union Minister Braja Kishore Tripathy. A Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court, Misra has served on multiple committees, including the Standing Committee on Finance and the Business Advisory Committee. His style of debate in Parliament is known for being calm and measured.

No public comment from the couple

So far, there has been no public response from either Moitra or Misra about the reports. The couple has not addressed the media nor released any formal communication on the marriage. Sources close to both parties also said they had no prior information.

    Moitra’s earlier relationships

This is Mahua Moitra’s second marriage. She was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson. Later, she was in a public relationship with lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai, which ended in a legal dispute. During the controversy, which led to her suspension from Parliament in late 2023, Moitra described Dehadrai as a “jilted ex”.

The current developments mark a new phase in Moitra’s personal life, though the political implications of the union — if any — remain to be seen.
